Safety

Safety is one of the major areas we try to portray and promote during our week-long event. All participants are expected to abide by the laws of safety. If you have not already done so, we would like to encourage you to complete an Online Safety Course before this year’s event. The online course is currently offered at no cost. Provided below are links to access this information.

On June 4, 2003, Governor Phil Bredesen signed into law a mandatory boating education requirement for persons born after January 1, 1989. Effective January 1, 2005, anyone who meets this age criteria operating boats on Tennessee waters must show proof of successful completion of a nationally approved boating safety course accepted by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency. Children under the age of 12 cannot operate a PWC without an adult onboard in the state of Tennessee.

Some safety points we would like you to keep in mind during the trip this year are as follows:

  • Obey all No Wake Zones*.
  • Your PFD (Personal Flotation Device) must be worn at ALL TIMES your watercraft is under power.
  • Maintain adequate distance between you and other PWC’s.
  • Wear adequate sunscreen and eye protection.
  • Drink plenty of fresh water and energy drinks high in electrolytes.
  • Have fun, be courteous, and be safe!

This is a demonstration of unsafe riding.

* “No wake” is defined as a vessel traveling at or below idle speed, or at such speed that the boat or its wake (waves) is not sufficient to cause possible injury or damage to other persons, boats, or property.
